Potensis Selection is working in partnership with a leading residential developer to recruit an Assistant Buyer/Commercial Assistant for a 3-month fixed-term contract (temp to perm). This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-performing commercial team while gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced environment.
In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the procurement and commercial functions. You will be responsible for assisting with purchasing materials, liaising with suppliers, and providing administrative support to the commercial team. Your ability to analyse data, manage documentation, and maintain accurate records will be essential to ensuring the smooth operation of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the procurement process, sourcing and ordering materials in line with project requirements and deadlines. You will work closely with the senior buying team to ensure cost-effective purchasing without compromising on quality.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, maintaining positive relationships and resolving any delivery or supply chain issues promptly to avoid project delays.
- Support the commercial team with administrative tasks, such as preparing documentation, managing purchase orders, and maintaining accurate records.
- Utilize Excel to produce reports and track costs, ensuring data accuracy and providing insights that contribute to the effective management of project budgets.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of systems and processes, including learning and applying the company’s procurement software. While experience with COINS is preferred, training can be provided for candidates with strong technical aptitude.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual with a passion for delivering excellent results. The ideal candidate will have:
- A background in purchasing, procurement, or commercial administration, preferably within the construction or residential development sector.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, including the ability to work with spreadsheets, analyse data, and produce reports.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with a willingness to learn and a keen eye for detail.
- Experience with COINS software is a plus, but it is not essential, as training can be provided.
